A tour of Bakkum from Onze Lieve Vrouw ter Nood

Your walking route starts with a cup of coffee under the trees at Oesdom coffee & shop, the tea house of the pilgrimage site Onze Lieve Vrouw ter Nood. From here you can take a nice walk through North Bakkum and the North Holland Dune Reserve, which stretches over about 20 kilometers. The variety of plant and animal species is a rarity in Europe. You walk back via the northern edge of the village of Bakkum. Take the time to discover the pilgrimage site. In the forecourt of the Chapel of Grace there is a well with healing water. During the Reformation, the chapel was destroyed and the well filled in with rubble from the chapel. In 1713, during the cattle plague, water welled up violently from under the rubble. Animals that drank from this water survived the cattle plague.
