The hamlet of Knikkerdorp is the starting point of this route. From here you cycle straight through the forests and along the heathlands of the Maasduinen. Just outside the Maasduinen you cycle through Well, a village on the banks of the Maas. The name of this village means 'mooring place', a reference to the village's favorable location on the water. Well Castle is the main attraction of the village of the same name. The castle complex was built in the fourteenth century. During the Second World War, the castle, which consists of a main castle and an outer castle, was severely damaged. Both buildings were restored and listed as national monuments, as were the bridges, the tithe barn and the historic garden that belong to the fortress. A training institute has been located there since 1986.
