Cycling to the abbey
From here you cycle via Aalst, Waalre and Dommelen along Valkenswaard. In Venbergen you can take a look at the Venbergse Watermolen after cycling for more than 15 kilometers. It is unclear exactly when this mill was built, but the mill has a long history anyway. The next sight on the route can be found just across the Belgian border: St. Benedict's Abbey - De Achelse Kluis. Here you will find an abbey shop where you can buy various things such as abbey beer and abbey cheese. A nice and tasty souvenir of your trip.

You then cycle successively through the Leenderbos, Valkenhorst and the Groote Heide back to the point where you started your tour.

The fens in the nature reserves you cycle through provide a special variety of flora and fauna. Here you will find plants such as round sundew, bell gentian, tormentil and devil's thread among cap and shrub heather. On the fens you see vegetation in the form of water lobelia and floating hedgehog's head.

Located on the edge of the De Malpie nature reserve, the Venbergse Watermill is the starting point for a wonderful cycling, walking or canoe trip. The Venbergse Watermill is a picture in itself and was first mentioned in 1227 as the property of a sister monastery from Postel. In the mill house is the eponymous café-restaurant. Down the street you will find the Rofra for canoe rental or other active pursuits. The Valkenswaard Carriage Museum offers a wonderful collection of luxury carriages. The Achelse Kluis has been a place where people settle for prayer and spirituality for centuries. Even today, there are still people who go here for peace and internalization. De Kluis is located on the border of North Brabant (NE) and North Limburg (BE) on the banks of the Warmbeek (BE) / Tongelreep (NE). The beer that is brewed in the Kluis is one of the few that can call itself Trappist beer, because there are only 11 beers that can bear this title.
