Between Weert and Roermond is a quiet and green area full of small towns and beautiful sights dating from times long past. This route takes you past several Maasplassen and past centuries-old castles and mills around the towns of Heel and Heythuysen.

Sights from times gone by
From Neeritter you cycle to Hunsel and then on to Grathem. Here you can take a look at the Grathemermolen and Groot Buggenum castle. The Grathemermolen was built here in the thirteenth century. In 1915 the mill was converted into a turbine mill and the mill's current water wheel is a copy of the original wheel. Groot Buggenum Castle was built later than the adjacent mill, in 1419. The original castle no longer stands, because Groot Buggenum was rebuilt in the sixteenth century on the foundations of the old castle. You then cycle further through Heel, Overhaelen, Baexem, Ell and Haler, among others. Other beautiful sights on the route are Heel Castle, Nederhoven Castle, Beegden Castle, St. Lindert Mill, Horn Castle and the Uffelsemolen.

Brasserie't Pastorieke
The start and end point of this route is Brasserie't Pastorieke in Neeritter. Here you can enjoy a high tea or something else tasty. From the parsonage you can also follow route 530038.

Nederhoven estate
You cycle across the Nederhoven estate between Heel and Beegden. This estate has a beautiful castle that was built in 1614. You will also find several outbuildings that were built around 1750. The rest of the estate consists of forests with old lime trees, oaks and beech trees and beautifully landscaped gardens. Get off your bike and take a walk around the estate if you want to stretch your legs.
