Cycling across Schouwen-Duiveland

A day of getting some fresh air at Schouwen-Duiveland is the ideal way to relax. You will find historic towns and quiet nature reserves.

Brouwershaven
The route starts in style: in Zierikzee, an old town where you will find many old monumental buildings. Then you drive on car-free roads through the polders, where you will find plenty of peace and space. Brouwershaven is a gem on the Grevelingenmeer. The old city center within the former fortress walls enjoys a protected cityscape. Switch back a bit to enjoy the unique historic atmosphere before driving over the dike along the Grevelingenmeer.

Oosterschelde
The Brouwersdam is the seventh structure of the Delta Works. Here you will find Strandpaviljoen Brouw: a unique location to enjoy a tasty meal, the beach and the North Sea. You will then pass Haamstede Castle, a national monument that originally dates from the thirteenth century. In Burgh you can take a look at the reconstruction of the old ringwalburg. You have a beautiful view from the Plompetoren, after which you drive along the banks of the Oosterschelde back to Zierikzee.
