Cycling across Schouwen-Duiveland

A day out at Schouwen-Duiveland is the ideal way to relax. You will find historic towns and quiet nature reserves.

Brewers harbour
The route starts in style: in Zierikzee, an old town where you will find many old monumental buildings. You then drive through the polders on low-traffic roads, where you will find plenty of peace and space. Brouwershaven is a gem on the Grevelingenmeer. The old city center within the former ramparts enjoys a protected cityscape. Switch back for a while to enjoy the unique historical atmosphere before you drive over the dike along the Grevelingenmeer.

Eastern Scheldt
The Brouwersdam is the seventh construction of the Delta Works. You will find Strandpaviljoen Brouw here: a unique location to enjoy a tasty meal, the beach and the North Sea. Then you will pass Slot Haamstede, a national monument that originally dates from the thirteenth century. In Burgh you can take a look at the reconstruction of the old ring rampart. From the Plompetoren you have a beautiful view, after which you drive along the banks of the Oosterschelde back to Zierikzee.
