Tour of Groeneveld and Hoge Vuursche

Your walking route starts at Pannenkoekenboerderij De Wildenburg, on Landgoed Groeneveld. You first walk a bit over this country estate around Groeneveld Castle, which was built in 1710 by the prosperous Marcus Mamuchet. The 130-hectare estate is now managed by Staatsbosbeheer. This route also takes you through Boswachterij de Vuursche, the area behind Castle De Hooge Vuursche. This forest forms one large quiet area. Quite special, because the Randstad is just a stone's throw away. This delightful forest area is a patchwork of former country estates. One moment you're walking through a dense and dark pine forest, a moment later you're stepping into an open forest where the sun's rays reach to the bottom. And occasionally you come across a climb, it remains the Utrechtse Heuvelrug!
