Tour of Notterveen and Sallandse Heuvelrug

Your route starts at Restaurant Cafe and Ice Cream Parlor Hancate 2.0. Notterveen near Wierden is a particularly quiet area. Small asphalt roads, forest paths and small streams and ditches divide the meadows and arable lands, which still contain a real, large sheepfold. You cycle past beautiful rural farms in the quiet peat area, where you will probably only have local residents and birds for company. The nature of Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park consists mainly of forests and heathland. The forests have been planted to prevent sand drifts and form a nice change between the dry heathlands. Juniper bushes (legally protected in the Netherlands) and lingonberries (also called lingonberries), among other things, grow and bloom lushly here, and the last viable population of grouse in the Netherlands lives in this special area.
