The beer tradition of Poperinge

The National Hop Museum
The starting point of this route is in Watou. From here you set course for Poperinge, a city where no less than three-quarters of the national hop harvest comes from. In the center of the city you can take a look at the National Hop Museum de Stadsscale.

The Flemish beer tradition

In the vicinity of this route you will find no fewer than four breweries, including Brouwerij Sint-Bernardus, Brouwerij De Plukker and Sint Sixtusabdij in Westvleteren. This abbey is owned by the Cistercians of the Strict Observance, also known as the Trappists. The Trappist beer from this brewery is considered one of the best in the world. In the center of Watou is Brouwerij Van Eecke, where Kapittel Blond and Watou\\\'s Wit are made, among other things.
