Tour of dolmens from Gasselte

Your route starts at Camping het Horstmannsbos. In Gasselte, you can admire the striking white Church of Our Lady, dating from the mid-thirteenth century. In the Gieten-Borger Forestry, the path leads you through a mix of deciduous and coniferous forests, heathland, and peat bogs. Here you'll find the famous Treetop Trail. In Borger, you'll see the medieval church tower. Just outside Borger, you'll pass the Hunebedcentrum (Hunebed Centre). In this beautiful museum, you'll learn all about hunebedden and their builders. Definitely worth a visit on this themed route! You can see, among other things, the complete inventory of hunebed D26, excavated in 1970. Near the Hunebedcentrum is D27: the largest hunebed in the Netherlands. Past Drouwen, you'll briefly pass through the Drouwenerzand forests. A wonderfully varied route, full of nature and culture!
