Description
In the Maas Valley you drive through a varied and usually vast river landscape. You also cross the forests of the Hoge Kempen. In Maastricht, France suddenly seems very close, what a special atmosphere!
Oud-Rekem You can stretch your legs along the leafy Julianakaal before crossing the Maas and cycling into Belgium. You drive through Eisden-Tuinwijk, an old mining district. Then you cycle through the gently rolling forests of the Hoge Kempen National Park. Enjoy the silence between the fragrant conifers. Further on you pass through Oud-Rekem, which was voted 'Most Beautiful Village in Flanders' in 2008 because of its many centuries-old buildings.
Maastricht You drive along the Maas to the historic heart of Maastricht. Stop here every now and then to enjoy the special atmosphere and many beautiful buildings. You cross the Maas via the thirteenth-century Sint-Servaas Bridge, the oldest bridge in the Netherlands. You will also see the famous Center Céramique.
