Description
Zeeland Flanders is ideal for a quiet day of cycling. This route takes you through the polders between Breskens and Terneuzen.
Braakmanpolder
The route starts on the edge of Breskens. In this cozy harbor town you will visit Mobiele Fietsservice, a mobile workshop that comes to you in the West Zeeuws Vlaanderen region to repair your broken bicycle. So handy! Then you drive into the polder. Get some fresh air while enjoying the panoramic views. You pass through the Braakmanpolder. The former estuary has been a nature reserve since 1952 with a dammed creek, flowery meadows and deciduous forests.
Picturesque IJzendijke
In Hoek you will pass the Windlust, a flour mill from 1857. In the polders it is easy to travel for miles again. You regularly pass a characteristic farm. IJzendijke is the last village on your route. And one of the most beautiful! Step off to take a look at the beautiful old Market. You can also visit Museum Het Bolwerk here, where you will learn more about the State-Spanish lines.
