Enjoy the landscape of Boxmeer and surroundings

Boxmeer is located on the left bank of the Maas and is surrounded by beautiful meadows and nature reserves. It is wonderful to cycle through the vast agricultural landscape, the charming Brabant villages or through the forests west of Boxmeer, which was originally called'Mere\\\'. From Boxmeer you cycle to the village of Rijkevoort. Here you can view the Luctor et Emergo windmill. This flour mill was built in 1901, restorations were carried out in 1972 and 1989 to ensure the preservation of the mill. Of the three pairs of millstones that the mill originally had, one remains. Remarkably, the king's spindle is painted. A little later you pass the Hamse Molen, which is named after the Hamse Veld, the original name of the site on which the standermolen from 1810 was built. A few kilometers further you drive into the Ullingse Bergen, a nature reserve consisting of sand drifts, heathlands and forests. Here you cycle past an old-fashioned sheepfold that provides shelter for a flock of heath sheep. The sheep are not the only grazers in the area, some Scottish Highlanders also stroll across the plain. The route takes you further towards the Stevensbeekse Bossen. The rural environment you drive through is an agricultural landscape that emerged after the reclamation of the Peel in the early 20th century. In addition to agricultural land, you will also see hedgerows, reclamation forests, but also the cultivation of fruit and trees.
