Cycling through the Frisian forests

During your trip you will enjoy wide views of grasslands and of the Heekermeer and Slotermeer. A nice contrast to the wooded Gaasterland. You cycle through the Rijsterbos, among other things. At the edge of the Jolderenbos stands Luchtwachttoren 6H3 from 1953. This tower was intended as a place to spot aircraft that could fly under the radar. In Oudemirdum you will pass the Fountain, a church from 1790. In Nijemirdum you will see a solitary church tower from the fourteenth century. The associated church was demolished in the eighteenth century. You will also pass Rijsterbosch, a nice place for a break. The pancake house has a nice terrace.
