Description

Follow the banks of the Yser, the only river in Belgium that flows into the North Sea. The total length of the body of water making its way to the coast is 78 kilometers. The water can be wild, but also mysterious and soothing. Cycling along the banks, looking out over the gigantic body of water, this ancient force of nature will trigger something in many tourists. The route starts in Nieuwpoort at junction 7. Nieuwpoort has a cozy old marina where beautiful yachts are anchored, but there are many more nice sights, such as the town hall built in the Flemish Renaissance style, a fish market, a historic lock complex that is used for drainage. of the polders (Ganzepoot) and various monuments and statues. With a stay at Domein Rietvelde you can of course also take a romantic walk on the beach in the evening and watch the sun sink into the sea. An absolute must!
