Experience the history of the First World War

Although all hills differ in height, what they all have in common is that they are witness hills. They prove what the landscape used to look like. There was a lot of fighting in Ypres during WW1. The trenches lay in an arc around the town from north to south and no fewer than five bloody battles were fought in this famous Ypres Salient (Ypres Salient) between 1914 and 1918. In and around Ypres there are many cemeteries where fallen soldiers are buried. Many monuments were erected after the war. The Menin Gate is the most important of these. The route takes you to two museums, Streekmuseum Zonnebeke and In Flanders Fields, which take you back in time and clearly illustrate the senselessness of the war.
