Nieuwpoort, De Panne and Veurne

Go for a nice bike ride on the Belgian coast and enjoy the nature at Koksijde-Bad. The municipality is known for its location in the middle of the dunes, so prepare yourself for beautiful views over the water. But the nature reserve De Hoge Blekker is also more than worth it. This beautiful dune complex has a characteristic horseshoe shape. The arms of the parabolic thumbs clearly indicate the prevailing wind direction. At the foot of them are dune fields, which are protected from drifting sand by rows of bundles of branches. A number of special fungi can be found between the semi-drift dunes, including the dune fringe hat. Open drifting dune areas alternate with scrub, wild privet and single-style hawthorn. Marram grass is also common.
