Nieuwpoort, De Panne and Veurne

Go cycling on the Belgian coast and enjoy nature at Koksijde-Bad. The municipality is known for its location in the middle of the dunes, so prepare yourself for beautiful views over the water. But nature reserve De Hoge Blekker is also more than worth it. This beautiful dune complex has a characteristic horseshoe shape. The arms of the parabolic thumbs clearly indicate the prevailing wind direction. At the foot of it are dune fields, which are protected against shifting sand by rows of branches. A number of special fungi occur between the half-drift dunes, including the dune fringe hat. Open shifting dune patches are interspersed with scrub, wild privet and single-style hawthorn. Marram grass is also common.
