Gerhagen nature reserve
The first part of this bike ride takes you from pole to the Gerhagen nature reserve. You drive here past fields and meadows that lie on the edge of the Gerhagenloop. This stream cuts through the entire nature reserve. The vegetation here consists for the most part of coniferous trees such as the Scots pine. Gerhagen also consists of fens and shifting sands. From here you continue to Vorst and Meerhout. In the village of Meerhout you will find numerous historical sights such as the Meerhoutse Watermill, the market square and the old town hall. You then set course for Olmen and from there you cycle along the edge of the Dessel-Kwaadmechelen Canal.
Cycling and dining cafe Paalse Plas
At the end of the route you will arrive at Bicycle and Eatery Paalse Plas on the edge of Paal. Here you can enjoy a cup of coffee, lunch or something else delicious. Plop down and take a rest from your trip.
Forest Museum Gerhagen
The Forest Museum Gerhagen is located at the foot of the Zandberg in the Gerhagen nature reserve. Step inside if you want to learn more about the nature in the area, especially the animals that live in this area. You will find, among other things, a permanent exhibition about the local bird population. Please note that the museum is closed in January and December.
