The rich cultural history of the Hof van Twente is reflected in, among other things, a series of castles (manors) with beautiful gardens, some of which are accessible. Markelo is also part of the Hof: it is one of the oldest villages in Twente with rolling ash trees and intimate hamlets (Stokkum) and... the proverbial bond with the Oranjes. In short, you are in one of the best-preserved landscape areas of the Netherlands, where a lot of attention is paid to regional products such as asparagus, wine, mustard, trout, etc. Diepenheim is the most important 'castle region' of Overijssel. The Six Castles Cycling Route is there for a reason. The small'stedeke\\\' Diepenheim also maintains good relations with the Dutch royal family. This started at the end of the 16th century when Prince Maurice stayed for a few days in the Haghuis, where the Orange Museum is now located, during his campaign through the Achterhoek and Twente. In the Golden Age, Hans Willem Bentinck of Huis te Diepenheim was chamberlain and adjutant to King Stadtholder Willem III. Diepenheim is also known for its many galleries, the romantic watermill from 1169 and walking routes. Whoever says Delden says Twickel, but also the Salt Museum and the monthly regional market. Delden was once a fortified town with two city gates. The old Blasius Church is a 15/16th century hall church with a Romanesque predecessor from the 12th century. It is pleasant around the city pump, which the citizenry donated to the then Baron Van Heeckeren in 1894. The city had this connected to the water supply that year. The characteristic water tower, built in neo-Renaissance style, also dates from 1894. This is just one stage of the Orange Cycle Route.
