2014-04-19 Blossom cycle loop 2 St. Truiden

This route is highly recommended. We started from St. Truiden. It might have been more convenient to park the car in a smaller village, as we now really had to look for a parking space. From St. Truiden to junction 189. Around point 150 is the beautiful Nieuwenhoven castle. The coffee and cake tasted delicious and the view is beautiful. (the organic vegetable quiche also looked delicious!). After the castle, climb the hill and enjoy the beautiful panorama of Nieuwkerken. At junction 171 you reach the church via a narrow cycle path. We understand very well that this loop was included because the church looks beautiful among the blossoming trees. In Hoepertingen there is a chapel from the thirteenth century with a beautiful altar. At Hoepertingen we shortened the route by cycling to junction 161 and then back to St. Truiden. But first have a Bloesem Kriek at Grand Cafe de Pipil in Brustem. You can sit there and there is plenty to see in the garden. We enjoyed the views, the apple blossoms (the white blossoms were already gone), the smell of the blossoms and the hawthorn, the rush downhill and the nice terraces!
