Discover the Weerribben-Wieden National Park, the largest lowland peat bog in Western Europe! This cycle route starts at Hotel Cafe Restaurant Het Rietershuijs in Kalenberg. From here you cycle to Nature Activities Centre De Weerribben or Outdoor Centre De Weerribben, with an exhibition that tells you everything about the origins of the nature reserve, the flora and fauna. The Ossenzijl mill is a tjasker, built in 1977. It is part of the De Weerribben nature reserve, where it supplies the reed land behind it with water. Tjaskers were used in the Kop van Overijssel in several places in the past to drain small plots. The wooden rods of this tjasker are 5.55 metres long and the mill is a municipal monument. You also cycle through the picturesque Giethoorn and along the Giethoornsche Meer.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
