Tour over the Hoog Buurlose Heide

This route takes you from Camping De Vinkenkamp through the forests of the Veluwe and over the Hoog Buurlose Heide. Hoog Buurloo has traditionally had a few houses and two sheepfolds. The circular area is surrounded by beech avenues, oak and beech forests and wild banks. For centuries, oak wood was chopped for the tannery and sheep were kept in this settlement. The area is now managed by Staatsbosbeheer. Sheep still graze there. Particularly early in the morning or around dusk, you can suddenly come face to face with a red deer or a wild boar. On the way back you pass the Ruitersmolen above Beekbergen. This water mill used to house a paper factory. An exhibition about this has been set up in the attic of the mill.
