Tour around the Hoog Buurlose Heide

This route takes you from Camping De Vinkenkamp through the Veluwe forests and across the Hoog Buurlose Heide. Hoog Buurloo traditionally has a few houses and two sheepfolds. The circular area is surrounded by beech avenues, oak and beech forests, and wild hedgerows. For centuries, oak was chopped for the tannery and sheep were raised in this settlement. The area is now managed by the Dutch Forestry Commission (Staatsbosbeheer). Sheep still graze there. Especially early in the morning or around dusk, you might suddenly come face to face with a red deer or a wild boar. On the way back, you pass the Ruitersmolen (Ruitersmolen) above Beekbergen. This watermill once housed a paper mill. An exhibition about this is on display in the mill's attic.
