Description

This route largely takes you through De Veluwezoom National Park, one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands. Your route starts at Camping De Vinkenkamp. You will pass Huis te Eerbeek, where you can view De Korenmolen: a water mill whose history dates back to 1395. Just before Loenen you pass Ter Horst Castle, hidden in the woods. Around 1557, Wijnand Hackfort, the then mayor of Arnhem, had his summer and hunting residence built here. The castle is privately owned. After you get back on your bike, you can drive to the Veluwezoom Visitor Center in no time. In this more than 5,100 hectare national park you drive through extensive deciduous and coniferous forests and endless heathlands. With a bit of luck you will come across a deer, fox or ermine.
