Description

On Sunday April 27, 2015 you can join the King's Tour to cycle the King's Route, a beautiful route across the Veluwe, 35 km long, with a special start & finish from Paleis Het Loo in Apeldoorn. Even after this day it remains a beautiful tour, so if you want to discover the route on your own, you can do so with this route description. Participation costs €12.50. The King's Tour's partner is the Oranje Fonds and €2 from each registration goes to the Oranje Fonds. After the successful Oranje Fonds Cycling Festival in 2013, the organization decided, in addition to the recreational tour of 35 kilometers, to expand the event with a tour of 100 kilometers and a walking tour of 17.5 kilometers. There is a rest and care point at Don Bosco in Hoog Soeren. Here you can have a drink or something to eat and enjoy the surroundings in peace and quiet. After his performance, each participant can view Het Loo Palace, the gardens and the Royal Showpieces exhibition for just €5 (regular entrance price €14.50!) (only valid on April 27, 2014). After the bike ride you will receive a reminder. The King's Route is signposted, moderately difficult, runs on paved paths and has height differences. The cycle route has recently been restored to its former glory by ANWB volunteers. The new route signs have - how could it be otherwise - a royal appearance. The route takes you through the center of Apeldoorn, past the Oranje Park, through Buurloo and Hoog Soeren, straight through the Veluwe and ultimately back to Paleis Het Loo. Het Loo Palace is the former summer residence of the Dutch stadtholder and royal family. Het Loo has served as a museum since 1984. The varied design of the rooms allows the visitor to experience more than three centuries of habitation by the Orange dynasty. There are also regularly changing exhibitions. The rooms are furnished with furniture, objects and paintings with which various generations of Orange surrounded themselves. The authentic upholstery of windows and walls is special. Characteristic of a museum like Paleis Het Loo is the fact that all works of art can be seen in the environment for which they were intended. The Baroque gardens with their waterworks and elegantly lined flowerbeds exude the atmosphere of the seventeenth century. In this three-hundred-year-old garden you will find special flowers and plant species, statue ponds and fountains. In the stable complex you can marvel at the carriages, sleighs and cars of the Royal family, many of which are still in use. Registration You can register for bicycles online at www.koningstoer.nl and is possible until April 20, 2014 at the latest. Day registration is also possible at the distribution desk on the event site, the Royal Stables. The distribution desk is open from 7:30 am on April 27.
