Delft is known for its pottery, but the historic town where Delft Blue originated has also grown into a lively student city. There are beautiful, monumental buildings in the city to see, because the historic city center is well preserved. The quieter outskirts of Delft forms a great contrast with the bustling city, but it is wonderful to find your way to Vlaardingen, the herring city in the Netherlands. This route starts at Royal Delft, the last remaining pottery factory from the 17th century. Here the world famous Delft Blue is painted by hand according to age-old traditions. Take a look at the museum and walk through the factory. Or have a bite to eat at Brasserie1653. This cycling route is nicely varied: you discover the city and the culture, but also the nature in the countryside.
