Along three lakes of the Groene Hart

From Hillegom you drive along the Kagerplassen, the Braassemermeer and the Westeinderplassen. In between you cycle through the flower bulb region and beautiful towns such as Hillegom, Lisse and Rijpwetering.

Kagerplassen
After a wonderful night's sleep at Hotel Villa Flora, you can get on your bike full of energy. You drive through Hillegom and Lisse, in the countryside you can enjoy wide views over the grassy fields. On this route you will also see many old mills, such as the Lisserpoel mill from 1676. At the Kagerplassen you will see rippling water and swaying reed collars. Just outside Rijpwetering you will pass the only twelve-sided windmills in the Netherlands: the Lijkermolen 1 and Lijkermolen 2.

Venneper wood
After you have looked out over the Braassemermeer, you will soon be driving along the Westeinderplassen. This area was created by peat extraction, but has never been drained. The Fort near Kudelstaart, part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam, is also located on the water. In Aalsmeer you cycle along the characteristic Uiterweg, where you will see several monumental nineteenth-century farms. Finally, you will pass through the Venneperhout, a young forest where there is already a lot to experience.
