Along three lakes of the Green Heart

From Hillegom you cycle along the Kagerplassen, the Braassemermeer and the Westeinderplassen. In between you cycle through the bulb region and beautiful places such as Hillegom, Lisse and Rijpwetering.

Kagerplassen After a wonderful night's sleep at Hotel Villa Flora, you get on your bike full of energy. You ride through Hillegom and Lisse, in the countryside you enjoy wide views over the grassy fields. On this route you will also see many old mills, such as the Lisserpoelmolen from 1676. At the Kagerplassen you will see rippling water and waving reed collars. Just outside Rijpwetering you will pass the only twelve-sided mills in the Netherlands: the Lijkermolen 1 and Lijkermolen 2.

Venneperhout After looking out over the Braassemermeer for a while, you will soon cycle along the Westeinderplassen. This area was created by peat extraction, but has never been drained. The Fort bij Kudelstaart, part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam, is also located on the water. In Aalsmeer you will cycle over the characteristic Uiterweg, where you will see several monumental nineteenth-century farms. Finally, you will pass through the Venneperhout, a young forest where there is already a lot to experience.
