This cycling tour of approximately 40 km takes you past the most beautiful spots and sights in our beautiful Bulb Region. The route takes the participant along our beautiful North Sea coast and cuts through the dunes between Katwijk and Noordwijk and those between Noordwijk and Zandvoort. From the start you cycle along one of the most beautiful boulevards in the Netherlands. You have left the lighthouse behind you and the next monument is already in sight, the white or old church. The church was built around 1640, after the previous church was destroyed by the Spanish in 1572. The clock dates from 1594. After arriving in Noordwijk from Katwijk, a visit to the Atlantic Wall Museum is recommended. This is a museum located in an old German ammunition bunker. The bunker is furnished as an exhibition space where more than 200 photos can be viewed. After a beautiful trip through the dunes and forests, we drink a cup of coffee or tea in the Nederzandt beach restaurant on the Langevelderslag, located in the dunes. When we leave Nederzandt we leave the dune landscape and enter the flower bulb fields. During the tour through the world-famous bulb fields we visit various cultural-historical places in the Bulb Region. We pass this way and if desired we visit the old Lisse train station, a little further you can visit Keukenhof Castle from 1642 and we pass the world-famous Keukenhof flower exhibition. Continuing our tour through the beautiful bulb fields, we arrive in Sassenheim at the Ruins of Teylingen from 1271. Leaving the ruins behind us, the tour then continues towards Voorhout and Rijnsburg. From there it is a few kilometers of cycling along the Oude Rijn to the Uitwatering. Cycling from the Uitwatering, the finish line is already in sight at the second oldest lighthouse in the Netherlands, dating from 1628.

The ruin of Teylingen Castle is a round water castle dating back to the 13th century. Originally, there was only a ring wall here. Later the keep was added to it, followed by the rest of the castle. In the past, you would also find an extensive outer castle here in addition to the current castle. Today the castle is still surrounded by a wide moat, but not much remains of the castle itself. There is now only one body of the former castle.

Vuurtoren van Katwijk

The 'Vierboet' in Katwijk aan Zee is, after the Brandaris, the oldest preserved lighthouse building in the Netherlands. Interesting detail: in Katwijk aan Zee the children are not brought by the stork, but come from the Vierboet.
