SWALLOW AND DIVE
Start your journey of discovery on the edge of the island where you look out on the new land of the Maasvlakte on one side and on the green beach of the mudflats of Oostvoorne on the other. Take the bike path along it
Oostvoornse Meer where the water is up to 70 meters deep in some places and therefore a popular diving location.
DEFEND ISLAND
Keep cycling along the water of the Brielse Meer where you will see the old fire beacon that reminds of the time when the island had to be defended against the enemy who wanted to conquer the island from the sea. Enjoy the sailing boats, water skiers and other water sports enthusiasts.
WATCH OUT FOR WATER BIGGERS
In the center of Den Briel, taste the atmosphere of April 1, 1572, when Alva was driven out by the Beggars. Get off your bike to climb the church tower for a breathtaking view of the old town and industry.
MARITIME HISTORY
You will find even more history in Hellevoetsluis, the old naval town on the Haringvliet, home to naval heroes such as Michiel de Ruyter and Piet Heijn, who sailed from this port to sail the world's seas.
LIGUSTERS AND SPOONS
Follow the waterline and you will arrive at the dunes that are unique for their plant diversity. Leave your bike for a while and walk to the lookout to admire one of the largest spoonbill colonies.
SMELL SEA AIR, GRIP A TERRACE
Do you want to smell the sea air? This is possible from the beach squares on the bathing beach in Rockanje aan Zee, traditionally a popular seaside resort for young and old. And then grab a terrace at one of the beach pavilions at the same time.
GRAZERS IN THE BACKYARD
Continue your bike ride over an ancient dike and from the Tenellaplas Visitor Center straight through the dunes and don't be surprised if you come face to face with large grazers. The backyard of Rotterdam is surprising
