The Trije fan Ljouwert (Leeuwarden) diel 2: Om'e Noard

The Trije fan Ljouwert consists of three cycle routes that encompass the city of Leeuwarden and the surrounding areas. The start is at the tourist office. Bicycles can be rented at the bicycle shed at the NS station. The route Om'e Noard first leads through part of the historic city center and then continues through the Leeuwarder forest and along the Dokkumer Ee. The Dokkumer Ee has traditionally been the waterway between Leeuwarden and Dokkum. The cycle path winds along the Ee and over the canals to the various villages. In Wyns you could cross the ferry to drink a cup of coffee or tea in the Winze (check whether the ferry is running). We then continue the route along the west side of the Ee and eventually arrive in the village of Stiens. Via Britsum we reach Cornjum. Here you will find Martenastate (rebuilt noble house) with the Stinzen garden. Nowadays there is an opportunity for coffee / tea at the entrance, namely the Timmermanswente. Then we go to the next village with an attractive state with garden. Dekemastate has been fully restored and can also be visited. The route continues through the Leeuwarder forest back to the city center. Highlights: . rural bike path along the Dokkumer Ee. Martenastate with Timmermanswente in Cornjum . Dekemastate in Jelsum After the cycling tour there are several possibilities to get to know the city better. It is very nice to climb the Oldehove and take another look at the cycle route traveled from 39 meters.
