Description

This cycle route starts at Fruit Nursery't Keetje, where you can quietly prepare the route before you start. The dike naturally refers to the West Frisian Omringdijk. With a length of 126 kilometers, this seven-century-old dike forms the border of West Friesland. On this side of the area, the dike retains the water of the IJsselmeer. The region includes the villages of Hoogkarspel, Lutjebroek, Grootebroek and Bovenkarspel. The road that runs between Hoorn and Enkhuizen is the second oldest brick road in our country. The road was opened in 1671 and people then spoke of a wonder of the world! During this tour you will drive over the high dike and the new version of the old brick road. You can see that the houses there are still very close to the road. Would you like to know more about the history of Westfriesland? See www.westfriesgenootschap.nl.
