Lamb cycle route Texel from De Cocksdorp

Texel is a real sheep island: there are as many sheep as people, almost 14,000. In the spring, many thousands more lambs will be born on the small-scale farms on the rolling 'old land' of Texel. The animals find protection from the wind in sheep pens and garden walls. If you happen to see a sheep lying on its back, warn the nearest farmer. Such 'rolling over' is very dangerous: if a sheep cannot get up, the animal will sooner or later die because its metabolism comes to a standstill. This can be within an hour, sometimes after 24 hours. So keep an eye! This route starts at Eethuus Van het Wad in De Cocksdorp and also passes the nice Den Burg, Den Hoorn and Oudeschild.
