Tour of Gouwzee, cycling and sailing

Your route starts at Hotel Old Dutch - Restaurant Le Pompadour. For generations, popular Dutch singers and pop groups have come from Volendam. Despite the glitz and glamour, Volendam has managed to keep its own face. The dialect is still widely spoken and the costumes are very well known. But perhaps the highlight of this cycle route is the Marken peninsula. Marken has a turbulent history with the surrounding water and the residents have always been in a fight to protect home and hearth against the water. Mounds were raised and later the houses were even built on stilts. One of the most beautiful places is the lighthouse, the Paard van Marken. After your visit, take the ferry back to Volendam, a nice boat trip with beautiful views.
