With this route you kill three birds with one stone: you ride through the Limburg hills, the Meuse valley and through Maastricht. A day of enjoying the many beautiful things that South Limburg has to offer.
Elsloo Castle
The first part of the route takes you through the hilly landscape that South Limburg is known for. Sometimes it is a bit of a climb, but your effort is rewarded with views that will make your heart beat faster. Along the way there is plenty of heritage to see, such as characteristic square farms and old churches. Elsloo Castle is the eye-catcher of the protected village view in Elsloo, a picturesque town on the Maas.
Meuse Valley
In Geulle aan de Maas you will see the beautiful Sint-Martinus church. Just outside the village is the outer bailey of Geulle Castle. This castle used to be even more impressive, but it was largely demolished in 1847. Further on is the old Borgharen Castle: also a picture. A little later Maastricht embraces you with its beautiful old districts: what a beautiful city it is.
