Description

Oud-Beijerland is the starting point of this route. From here you cycle through the polders to Mijnsheerenland and Heinenoord. The Hoeksche Waard was created after the Sint-Elisabeth flood of 1421. The dikes on the island were constructed between 1437 and 1653. The approximately sixty polders in the area were gradually drained. In Heinenoord you can take a look at the Hoeksche Waard Regional Museum. This museum offers you a nice glimpse into everyday life in the Hoeksche Waard and the history of the Hoeksche Waard. There are various rotating collections to admire with lace and samplers, a jewelry collection and a special collection of chats, skirts, skirts and jackets.
