Endless views in the Hoeksche Waard

The Hoeksche Waard is a beautiful open area south of Rotterdam. The area has been designated as a National Landscape. From Oud-Beijerland you cycle along the Spui to Goudswaard. Here you can take a look at the Windlust mill. The round stone ground-sailer is probably one of the oldest stone mills in the Netherlands. A facade stone indicates the year 1694. Another attraction on this route is the Landzigt mill. This is also a round stone corn mill with the sails almost touching the ground. The ground-sailer was built in 1857, but the mill already had a few predecessors on this spot. The mill burned down almost completely in 1990 but has since been restored. Along the way you can spend a night at Camping't Volgerland, in Numansdorp.
