Bicycle route Hoensbroek, Heerlen and Valkenburg

With this route, you will experience a beautiful day of cycling in the Limburg hills. You will enjoy panoramic views over green fields and stream valleys. The rich cultural history of Limburg is also featured. On the outskirts of Nuth, you will pass the Molen van Hunnecum, a grain mill dating from 1882. From junction 72, you cycle a short distance along the former route of the Mining Railway. This railway, constructed by the State Mines themselves, ran from Brunssum to the Maashaven of Steijn. You cycle along the forests of the Brunssummerheide to Heerlen. On the outskirts of Voerendaal, you pass Ter Worm Castle; further along, in Oud-Valkenburg, you can admire two more castles: Genhoes and Schaloen. You make a shortcut through Valkenburg, and in Walem, you will see several centuries-old, characteristic farmhouses. The route starts and ends at Camping Mareveld.
