140565 Cycling along the Maas near Kessel

This route takes you along the left bank of the Maas in the area of Neer and Kessel. You also drive through the Heldense Bossen. That will be a day of Limburg enjoyment!

Friedesse Mill
The route starts at Brasserie De Zoes. You drive leisurely towards the Maas through a landscape of forests, grasslands and fields. In Neer you can enjoy a drink on a terrace at Café Manuslust Biej Mieke. Further on you will see the Friedesse Mill on the Neerbeek, a water mill built in 1717 for grinding corn. What a picture! In the Musschenberg nature reserve you have a beautiful view of the Maas valley from the sand ridge.

Keverberg Castle
On the edge of Kessel you will pass Eethuis De Rozentuin, a cozy place for a coffee, lunch and a delicious dinner. Further on is the renovated ruin of Keverberg Castle, dating from the ninth century. Worth a visit, especially considering the view you have from the castle. The Heldense Bossen is a nature reserve that consists of a mosaic of various contiguous pine forests, small-scale arable land, fens and small heathlands. You can fully enjoy the silence here.
