Description

From Heukelum you cycle to two beautiful windmills in Gorinchem. Corn mill Nooit Volmaak was built in 1718, after a storm destroyed a standard mill on this site. The mill was originally built as a ground sailor, but in 1764 the mill was converted into a tower mill. In 1889, a fire broke out in the mill and it had to be largely renovated. Parts of the oil mill'Never Perfect\\\' were used and that is how the round stone mill got its new name. Gorinchem plays the leading role during this cycling route. The city probably originated when fishermen and farmers founded a settlement here around the year 1000, in the mouth of the Linge and Merwede. In the mid-fourteenth century, the ramparts were reinforced with stone walls. Enjoy a delicious lunch at Restaurant Metropole in Gorinchem!
