Meinweg Castle Route from Roermond

The first attraction you encounter is Freymersen Castle. The medieval round brick tower with two floors has been incorporated into the current country house, from 1865. Then you pass the Vlodropper mill from 1875. The turbine in the mill is the only one of its kind. On the same water you will find the Gitstappermolen, a flour mill. The mill runs regularly on a voluntary basis. Hillenraad Castle is a square moated castle that was built in the fourteenth century. The four corner towers dominate the estate and give the graceful building a stately appearance. The complex is surrounded by a moat and admirers will have to view it from a distance: Hillenraad Castle is not open to the public.
