The countryside between Delft and Vlaardingen

Delft is known for its pottery, but the historic town where Delft Blue originated has grown into a lively student city. There are still plenty of monumental buildings to be seen in the city, because the historic city center has been well preserved. The quieter outskirts of Delft form a great contrast with the bustling city, but it is wonderful to find your way to Vlaardingen, the herring city of the Netherlands. Fishing has always been important in the history of Vlaardingen. After the Second World War, industry and other port activities also started to play an important role. An excellent place for a break during your bike ride presents itself after about 45 minutes of cycling.
