From Gulpen a visit to Maastricht

This cross-border bike tour takes you through beautiful landscapes: the Gulp valley and the Voerstreek. You even get to the beautiful Maastricht!

Your route will take you further to the pleasant Voerstreek, a collection of villages between beautiful green hills. 's-Gravenvoeren, for example, has developed as a ribbon village along the river Voer, with numerous footbridges over the water to the houses. The church, the rectory and several farms in the immediate vicinity date from the 18th century - a very prosperous time for this village. One of those nice addresses is the inn De Swaen in s-Gravenvoeren, already in the 16th century a resting place for horse and traveler halfway the stagecoach route Liège-Aachen. The current building dates from 1727 and is located in one of the most beautiful spots in the Voer region, right next to the Chapel of Our Lady and a cast iron water pump.

Maastricht is the next stop on this varied route: a beautiful historic city, but you can also have fun with design. The eastern bank of the Meuse has been given a whole new look in recent years with the Centre Céramique and the Bonnefantenmuseum, both of which can be beautifully discovered from the cycle path along the Meuse. Drop in at the museum if you are passing by anyway, it is worth it! At the back you will also find a beautiful view of the Meuse.
