A visit to Maastricht from Gulpen

This cross-border cycling tour leads you through beautiful landscapes: the valley of the Gulp and the Voer region. You even come to beautiful Maastricht for a while!

Your route leads you further to the lovely Voer region, a collection of villages between beautiful green hills.'s-Gravenvoeren, for example, has developed as a ribbon village along the river Voer, with numerous footbridges over the water to the houses. The church, rectory and several farms in the immediate vicinity date back to the 18th century - a very prosperous time for this village. One of those nice addresses is De Swaen in 's-Gravenvoeren, a resting place for horse and traveler halfway through the Liège-Aachen stagecoach route as far back as the 16th century. The current building dates from 1727 and is located in one of the most beautiful spots in the Voer region, right next to the Onze-Lieve-Vrouw chapel and a cast-iron water pump.

Maastricht is the next stop on this varied route: a beautiful historic city, but you can also have fun in terms of design. The eastern bank of the Maas has been given a completely new look in recent years with the Center Céramique and the Bonnefanten Museum, both beautiful to discover from the cycle path along the Maas. Pop into the museum if you're passing by, it's worth it! At the back you will also find a beautiful view of the Maas.
