Vaals, Limburg, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 139559
Provided by: Groots Genieten
This route takes you through the rolling landscape of South Limburg. On this relatively short route you will have plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful panoramas and historic buildings.
Vaelsbroek Castle
You will soon pass the Frankenhof mill, a reminder of Vaals' heyday as a center of the eighteenth-century textile industry. This restored overcast watermill originally dates from 1736. Vaelsbroek Castle is a pleasure castle whose origins date back to the fifteenth century. Don't forget your camera, because the building is beautiful.
Half-timbered farms
You cross the border to drive a bit through Wallonia. Here too it is wonderfully peaceful to cycle between the green hills. In Sippenaeken you regularly hear Limburgish or even Dutch being spoken. You can admire, among other things, the St. Lambertus Church from 1840. In hamlets such as Diependal, Terpoorten and Camerig you can still experience the atmosphere of a bygone era thanks to the many monumental half-timbered farms. Especially in combination with the tranquility that characterizes the Heuvelland!
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
