Along South Limburg watermills

Ready for a trip with beautiful panoramas? Go cycling in the South Limburgse Heuvelland, one of the most beautiful regions of the Netherlands - also because of its rich cultural history!

Monumental mills
On your route you will see many of the characteristic Limburg half-timbered houses. You will also pass through Oud-Lemiers, which enjoys a protected village view. You will see, among other things, the beautiful twelfth-century Saint Catherine Chapel. In Wittem you will pass the Redemptorists Monastery from 1733. On the other side of the road is the picturesque Wittem Castle. At Simpelveld you will pass the Oude Molen from 1774. The Onderste Molen in picturesque Mechelen originally dates from the thirteenth century.

Characteristic Hill Country
Because of its unique cultural history, the Heuvelland has been given the status of National Landscape. Here you cycle through a mosaic of forests, fields and meadows. Here and there you can still see the characteristic old standard orchards and hawthorn hedges. From the hilltops you have beautiful views. Take some time to catch your breath from the climb and the breathtaking surroundings.
