Along South Limburg watermills

Fancy a trip with beautiful panoramas? Go cycling in the South Limburg Hills, one of the most beautiful regions in the Netherlands - also because of its rich cultural history!

Monumental mills On your route you will see many of the characteristic Limburg half-timbered houses. You will also pass through Oud-Lemiers, which enjoys a protected village view. Among other things, you will see the beautiful twelfth-century St. Catherine's Chapel. In Wittem you will pass the Redemptorist Monastery from 1733. On the other side of the road is the picturesque Wittem Castle. At Simpelveld you will pass the Old Mill from 1774. The Lower Mill in picturesque Mechelen originally dates from the thirteenth century.

Characteristic Heuvelland Due to its unique cultural history, the Heuvelland has been given the status of National Landscape. You cycle through a mosaic of forests, fields and meadows. Here and there you can still see the characteristic old high-stem orchards and hawthorn hedges. From the hilltops you have beautiful views. Take your time to catch your breath from the climb and the breathtaking surroundings.
