Mill route around Gorinchem

Your cycling route starts with a cup of coffee at Restaurant Metropole in Gorinchem. Corn mill Nooit Volmaak was built in 1718, after a storm destroyed a standard mill on this site. In 1889, the mill was rebuilt after a fire with parts from the oil mill'Never Perfect\\\'. Hence the name! Then you will pass the Jan van Arkel tower mill, an octagonal flour mill from 1852. Anyone who wants to visit the flour mill can view the inside of the national monument on Saturday. In the picturesque and very religious Hoornaar you will see a seesaw mill, one of the two remaining mills of the polder Het Land der Zes Molens. This is the Scheiwijkse M, from 1638. The last two windmills of the cycle tour are again in Gorinchem. The Westmolen was built in 1814, the Oostmolen two years later.
