Mill route around Gorinchem

Your cycle route starts with a cup of coffee at Restaurant Metropole in Gorinchem. The grain mill Nooit Volmaakt was built in 1718, after a storm destroyed a post mill on this site. In 1889, the mill was rebuilt after a fire with parts from the oil mill'Nooit Volmaakt\\\'. Hence the name! Then you pass the Jan van Arkel tower mill, an octagonal grain mill from 1852. If you want to visit the grain mill, you can view the national monument from the inside on Saturdays. In the picturesque and very religious Hoornaar you can see a hollow post mill, one of the two remaining mills of the polder Het Land der Zes Molens. This is the Scheiwijkse M, from 1638. The last two mills of the cycle route are again in Gorinchem. The Westmolen was built in 1814, the Oostmolen two years later.
