Through Dordrecht: tour of the city and nature

Dordrecht received city rights in 1220. At that time it was still called'Thuredrech\\\': for a while one of the six largest and most important trading cities in the Netherlands. You will see a beautiful historic center. Three rivers meander around the city and meet just outside the city limits: the Beneder-Merwede, the Noord and the Oude Maas. There is a lot of traffic on the water; it is the busiest water hub in Europe, due to its location close to Rotterdam. So there is always something to do here! The Kyck Over Den Dyck mill is the only one of the ninety mills left in Dordrecht. Outside the city, the green river islands, sand and mud flats of the Biesbosch are given color by the yellow marshweed, white valerian and purple loosestrife.
