Description
It is wonderful to cycle through the hills around Sittard. You will find plenty of natural beauty and sights from Limburg's rich cultural history.
Schinveld forests
At Buitenplaats De Vief Heringe you can enjoy a terrace in a unique atmosphere before driving through beautiful Sittard. Here you pass the Stadbroekermolen, a water mill that originally dates from 1582. You cross the border into Germany, after which you drive through the deciduous forest of the Tüdderner Fenn. In the hills you will pass through some charming German and Dutch villages. In the Schinveldse Bossen you can enjoy the peace and nature.
Amsterdam
On the outskirts of Brunssum you drive through the Schutterspark, which was set up between 1920 and 1940. The park is partly on the slope of a hill and partly in the valley of the Roode Beek. A little later you drive over the sloping Brunssummerheide. Step off to enjoy the view and the silence. The area around Kasteel Amstenrade is a nationally protected sight due to its historic appearance and old buildings. What a cultural history!
