Tour of Hellendoornse Berg, Regge and Wierdense Veld

You start near Buitencentrum Sallandse Heuvelrug, where you learn everything about this special area. The 40 meter high Hellendoornse Berg is a heavily wooded hill. The Hellendoornse Berg is located in the larger nature reserve of the Sallandse Heuvelrug, but does not officially belong to this national park. Get off at Camping and Chalet Park Bergzicht! You cycle south again along the beautifully meandering Regge. Further on, between Nijverdal and Wierden, is a nature reserve of 420 hectares, where a herd of 300 Veluwe heath sheep regularly feast on fresh twigs and twigs. This Wierdense Veld is a Natura 2000 area. In recent years, a lot of work has been done to restore the living peat bog area. Small cranberry, lavender heather and sphagnum mosses can again be found on the heath.
