From Harlingen to Zurich

The Elfstedenstad Harlingen is worth staying for a while. First, you drive all the way south along the Wadden Sea, a beautiful start to the day. The Wadden Sea is a shallow sea where mudflats and sandbanks dry out at low tide. The area is of international importance. Many birds breed here and many seals are born here. Before you enter Bolsward, you pass the Lonjé mill, an octagonal smock mill. Between Burgwerd and Wommels, you will discover another mill right along the cycle path: the Aylvapolder, one of the largest mills in Friesland.
