The Eleven Cities city of Harlingen is worth lingering a while. First of all, you drive all the way south along the Wadden Sea, a beautiful start to the day. The Wadden Sea is a shallow sea where mudflats and sandbanks dry up at low tide. The area is of international importance. Numerous birds breed here and many seals are also born here. Before you enter Bolsward, you pass the Lonjé mill, an octagonal upper mill. Between Burgwerd and Wommels you will discover another mill right along the cycle path: the Aylvapolder, one of the largest mills in Friesland.
