Through the woods and polders near Utrecht

Just outside Utrecht it is wonderful to cycle through nature. You drive through the Kromme Rijnstreek and over the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. You will encounter many sights along the way.

Werkhoven
From Plattelandwinkel De Achterdijk you are the first to drive through the Kromme Rijnstreek. Loosen your legs while you look out over wide grasslands. From afar you can already see the church tower in Werkhoven. In the authentic village you will experience the atmosphere of times gone by. Castle Beverweerd originally dates from the thirteenth century, the current building dates from 1850. Further on you pass Kasteel Sterkenburg, a former defense tower.

Heidestein
On the Utrechtse Heuvelrug it is wonderful to cycle through the woods. Take a deep breath and enjoy the fresh air. Here you will also see some stately villas, and you will also pass the White House, a former forester's house. Further on you drive through the Heidestein estate: grab a bench and enjoy the silence. After Bunnik you will visit Fort Vechten. You can visit the Waterline Museum and a replica of a Roman watchtower here.
