Oosterschelde National Park is one of the youngest and most special national parks in the country. Enjoy the landscape and try to spot special marine animals - such as seals and porpoises.
Oosterschelde
You immediately set course for Oosterschelde National Park, with 370 km² (of which 350 km² outside the dike) the largest national park in the Netherlands. The tidal change and the presence of fresh and salt water make the Oosterschelde unique. Thousands of plants and animals can enjoy life here. The area is a nursery for fish such as garfish, eelpout and anchovies.
Porpoises
After a short distance along the Veersche Meer you cycle again along the Oosterschelde. Pay close attention to the birds that use the banks as a roadside restaurant for a tasty snack. On the Roggenplaat you might see seals lying in the sun. Or spot the porpoises that regularly show their dorsal fins along the Oosterschelde coast. As many as 100 columns and panels give you more information about the area. The route also visits nice villages such as Kortgene and Wissenkerke.
