Description
Once you're on your way, you cycle straight through the Langeraarse Plassen, which consist of two lakes. The route then leads you further along the busier Westeinderplassen, or 'de Poel' as the Aalsmeer people call it. The world-famous Aalsmeer is located on the Westeinderplassen, thanks to the lively flower trade that developed in and around the town. A large flower parade was organized here for sixty years and the largest flower auction in the world is also an important tourist attraction. A perfect starting point for the cycling tour is Van der Valk Avifauna in Alphen aan de Rijn, in the middle of the Green Heart of the Randstad and where the car can easily be parked. Start the outing with coffee or tea and something tasty. When you return from the tour, you may simply feel like seeing more of the area.
